My second album. This album is a response to the things I'd learned since releasing 'A Thousand Brand New Places' in 2008. My co-producer (Brent Quinton) and I decided on a very organic approach to the recording. We also wanted the album to have a more focused sound this time round. I spent a lot of time pre-producing and arranging the parts so that the songs didn't require lots of tracks and over-dubs. It was a case of 'let's see how full we can make it sound, with only the basics - guitars, bass, drums and vocals'. Sure there are a few extra keyboard lines, just to add a flavour here or there, but the idea was to record in a way that would translate well live, with a 4-piece band. Quite a few of the guitar parts were used after the first or second take. We recorded quickly, and with the idea of capturing the spirit of a live performance. Stylistically, the album is more 'poppy', bright and up-beat than my first. My favourite tracks include 'She's Music' and 'Soul In A Suitcase'.

Track Order:

1 - These Days
2 - Miles Away
3 - All About Energy
4 - Happy To Believe
5 - She's Music
6 - Frivolous Thing
7 - Loud (On The Inside)
8 - Polite Riot
9 - Beautiful Life
10 - Soul In A Suitcase
11 - That's How, That's Why
12 - Camera

When I started recording 'A Thousand Brand New Places', in 2007, I had no idea what was to become of it. I had no record label, no band and limited knowledge of the professional recording industry. All I had were a home studio, with some average-to-decent equipment I'd saved up from a few theatre shows I'd done as a session guitarist, and a LOT of songs. With the future a big vague, yet exciting prospect, I began recording songs, based on which ones felt good to me. No-one had heard the material before, and the very first time any outside ears heard the songs was when I'd finished recording each one, and played it for my parents (later I got the tracks mixed and post-produced by Brent Quinton). I didn't have a real concept of how an album should flow, or what sound I wanted to adopt. As a result, the album has multiple personalities! It ranges all the way from acoustic folk to alternate pop to traditional African sounds. I'm still really proud of it, and although it's a bit 'all over the place', I think the songs were all worth putting to record. My favourites include 'Sculptor's Song', 'Love Somebody', 'Music To Me' and 'Infinity'.

Track Order:

1 - If You Like To Move Slowly
2 - Sculptor's Song
3 - Late Starter
4 - Gentleman
5 - A Thousand Brand New Places
6 - Come Inside
7 - Ghost Girl
8 - Love Somebody
9 - We're Children
10 - Where Do We Find The Time
11 - Music To Me
12 - Infinity
